Taking the Florida CNA Exam at First Coast CNA
Before You Apply
Before starting your Prometric CNA exam application, make sure you understand which testing pathway applies to you and what you will need to complete the process.
Prometric exam fees
Prometric exam fees are paid directly to Prometric. The current fee is $155 for both the written and skills exams, $35 for the written exam only, or $120 for the skills exam only. Fees are subject to change.
Background Check
A Level II background screening is required as part of the Florida CNA certification process.
Testing Dates
Testing dates are scheduled through Prometric. Candidates may select First Coast CNA as their preferred Jacksonville Regional Testing Site when completing the application.
Approved 120-Hour Program
Graduates of an approved 120-hour CNA program should select E1, the approved-training pathway when completing their Prometric application.
Challenging the Exam
Candidates who are challenging the CNA exam through exam prep, prior experience, or self-study should select E3 the challenger pathway.
How to Register for the Florida CNA Exam
Create / access Prometric account
- Access Prometric’s Florida Nurse Aide Exam page by clicking the image
- Scroll down the page until you see the following and click “Application Process” to open the drop-down menu
- Click “Online Application Form”
- Click “Register New User”
- Fill out the information.
Make sure you enter your Last Name and First Name as it appears on your driver’s license.
- You will receive a confirmation email from Prometric. When you click the link to activate your login information, you will be sent back to
- Enter your email and password and click Login
Complete application
- Click “Submit New Application” in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Select Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Application After 07-01-2012 from the drop down
- Complete the sections with asterisks at a minimum
- A) Don’t worry about a Prometric ID, this is only if you have one
- B) Once the application has been started it can be saved and returned to later
- C) Payment is required before submitting
- In the Certification Option / Eligibility section:
- 1) If you took a 120 Hour CNA Training class, select E1. Completed a State Approved CNA training Program, or.
- 2) If you didn’t take a training class, or you took an Exam Prep Class, select “E3. Challenger”
- Training Information
- 1) If you took a 120 Hour CNA Training class, complete all required sections, or.
- 2) If you didn’t take a training class, or you took an Exam Prep Class, skip this section.
- For Testing at First Coast CNA Regional Testing Site
- A) Select the Regional Testing Site Option
- B) Click the ‘My Preferred Test Site is’ drop down menu
- C) From the drop down menu select ‘1st Coast CNA Regional – Jacksonville’

- Complete rest of application including the “agree” boxes stating that you are aware that a background check is required and that you may have to play the role of the resident for another student’s exam.
- Double check the checklist at the bottom and save for later or submit!
